From Athens to Aston - Cookisto gives you a real alternative to the usual High Street take-away after a week at work.
“Broccoli from Spain, french beans from Kenya and chicken breasts from Thailand: I believe we should be closer to the food we eat - closer to the ingredients, closer to the cook, and closer in sharing food together.” Diana Holba.
Each alternate Friday night, my Cookisto take away service gives you a real alternative to the usual High Street take-away by offering a delicious, home cooked dish which can be ordered by 4pm on the preceding Wednesday for collection from my kitchen in Aston on the Friday. I post the upcoming menus on my news blog and also post on my social media channels. Alternatively, I can let you know via email if you contact me with your details at firstname.lastname@example.org or call my mobile 07811 356046 or the bakery 01438 880415.
Originating in Athens, Cookisto is a food movement which started when serious austerity measures were put into place after Greece had to borrow massive amounts of money from the International Monetary Fund. Domestic kitchens opened their doors to offer food to the community at a reasonable price. This movement then spread Europe-wide.
The principle upon which Cookisto was founded still holds good: flavoursome, nutritious food cooked at home to take away, and made available to the local community at a reasonable price.
